On October 18th, the Canoe Club and the Catamount Pipe Band will be offering a taste of what’s to come with a special evening event. The Canoe Club is known for straightforward cuisine with a flair, and their commitment to fresh local and regional food. For this special evening, they will embark on a culinary adventure to Scotland in addition to their full menu, offering sumptuous dishes that country is renowned for. The evening will feature Iain MacHarg, founder and Pipe Major of the Catamount Pipe Band. The Catamount Pipe Band just recently returned from their successful competition tour in Scotland, where they qualified and placed at Berwick and Perth, and placed 6th at the World Pipe Band Championship. This renowned group also won the (2015) Northeast Championships in New York. MacHarg will be joined by members of the Catamount Pipe Band; hear them play traditional tunes on both Highland and smallpipes, and see these amazingly complex instruments up close. Members of the Catamount Pipe Band will also serve as Whisky Ambassadors for a special Scotch whisky tasting, including Glenmorangie, Laphroaig, and Talisker. They will explain the complex process of whisky production, as well as highlight the subtleties of distinctive malts from five different regions of the country.
