Science and Culture of Fermentation

A scholarly and gastronomic celebration of microbial diversity at Dartmouth College

The event includes a keynote address by Sister Noella Marcellino (Friday August 30th) and talks by prominent biologists and anthropologists (Saturday August 31st), each of whom will address the biology and origins and bread, alcohol, cheese, chocolate, etc.

Saturday will include lunch provided by King Arthur Flour and a showcase of local fermented foods.

The event is free and open to the public, but we ask that participants register so that we can plan accordingly. The schedule of speakers and other details are available here: https://biology.dartmouth.edu/seminars-news-events/science-and-culture-fermentation-symposium

If you produce fermented foods, then please consider showcasing your talents on Saturday! To learn more, please contact Nate Dominy at [email protected]
