Where To Go For Retial Therapy In Hanover

Jill Butler, owner of the J List boutique in downtown Hanover, believes that shopping should be fun, and customers entering her store next to the Nugget Theater on South Main Street see evidence that she chooses her inventory accordingly. From the street, it might be easy to assume The J List is simply a clothing store, but a trip inside reveals it’s much more. An array of fun gifts and cards throughout the shop keeps smiles on customers’ faces as they browse the main level for soft, comfortable women’s wear and artisan jewelry. The lower level features items for babies.

With a store on Main Street in the heart of Hanover, we asked Jill to tell us about her favorite things about being downtown during the summer. Here’s her list:

Jill’s 10 Favorites for Summer

  • The perfect white t-shirt (project social t) at The J List
  • A straw or macrame tote from The J List
  • A stack of square rings, mixing gold and silver
  • A summer fragrance for your room—a diffuser or a candle
  • A great read: Still North Books has so many
  • A show to binge on: If you haven’t watched Ted Lasso, you must
  • The perfect summer dessert: My Brigadeiro has the most amazing mango mousse
  • A great hike: Cardigan Mountain or Mt. Cube, for example
  • Check out the offerings from the Hop (the Hopkins Center at Dartmouth)
  • A sausage roll from Umpleby’s
