Changes Coming To Hanover's Business Landscape

Aug 27, 2020 11:17AM ● By Kaitlyn Malone
There continues to be a lot of change as some businesses close and others open in their place. We stay appreciative of the establishments that have contributed to the Hanover community and the new business that will bring something fresh to the neighborhood. Though change can be a bit of a wild ride with its uncertainties, we continue to support each other and look forward to what the coming months have in store.

Main Street Kitchen

Main Street Kitchen is a gourmet kitchen store in the Upper Valley. They have moved location to 6 Allen Street in Hanover and are opening a new shop in White River Junction! Be sure to check out their Facebook for updates!

Salt Hill pub

Owners, Josh, and Joe Tuohy, have decided to close their Salt Hill Pub in Hanover due to the challenges associated with COVID-19. This Irish pub has been an excellent meeting place for a fun night filled with live music and good people! After about 17 years of serving the community with their unique blend of humor, craft beers, and Irish-American comfort food, they will surely be missed. However, they still have other Salt Hill pub locations in Lebanon, Newport, Newbury, and West Lebanon, just a hop, skip, and a small car ride away!

Check out their website for more details: www.salthillpub.com/locations/

Aromed Essentials

Aromed Essentials is a woman-run business that provides organically grown Vermont CBD products and certified ethically wild-harvested essential oils. Their mission is to engage the power of medicinal plants to support the community's health and well-being and the planet. The store location in Hanover has been closed due to COVID-19, but customers are encouraged to shop online or use the mail order option at 802-505-1405. Aromed Essentials also has another store location at 8 State Street Montpelier, VT.

Here is their website for more information and if you would like to shop for products aromedessentials.com/

Jewel of India

A family-owned restaurant, The Jewel of India, has been serving the Hanover community and the hungry students of Dartmouth College for 28 years. The owners Balbir Singh and Surjit Kaur recently relocated to 11 Lebanon St. They had to move out of their Dartmouth College location because the property owners decided to demolish the building due to its age and structural condition. Now the Jewel of India provides delicious food at its new location and features a delivery service on the Dartmouth campus! They specialize in North India Punjabi region cuisine, which they cook in a clay oven with a charcoal bottom for traditional flavors. Next time you are hungry, head to their restaurant, and check out the new spot.

Nugget Scoops

Ice cream is a staple of summertime and brings people together. After the closures of Morano and Swirl and Pearl, Hanover needed a new town ice cream shop. Having an ice cream store in Hanover is vital to the community, and thanks to the Hanover Improvement Society, Hanover will not be without. Nugget Scoops opened July 1st out of the space formerly occupied by Morano on Main Street and has partnered with Kingdom Creamery of Vermont to provide quality ice cream to the Hanover community. Nugget Scoops features at least ten different flavors, including maple! Taste these great local treats and grab a scoop (or two) with friends and family.

Canoe Club

The well known Upper Valley restaurant, The Hanover Canoe Club, has closed. There were many reasons, but given the construction on the building that was disrupting business as well as other circumstances, it was challenging to provide the right experience for the customers and remain competitive. After weeks of struggling to make it work, the owners decided to finally close. The location remains vacant, but there is interest in the space from several potential clients.

My Brigadeiro

My Brigaderio didn't leave Hanover they just moved locations. They are now located at 33 S Main Street. Open M-TH: 10 am - 6 pm, F-S: 10am - 7pm, Su: 12pm - 6pm.
