Willing Hands is based in Vermont and provides food that would otherwise be thrown away to organizations such as the Vermont Foodbank. Every bit of food and service they provide is free of charge, providing fresh food to over 60 organizations in the Upper Valley. And it looks like Norwich might be its home.

15 years ago, Peter Phippen founded Willing Hands after working at the Co-Op and seeing all the food that was going to waste. He rented a van to deliver this produce, and the rest is history. Willing Hands has flourished since then, with plenty of volunteers helping this growth. They've helped countless communities receive fresh, locally-sourced produce for free. Lebanon, NH has been its home since the beginning, but Willing Hands has outgrown its location.

Thankfully, developers David and Kathy Clem had a space in Norwich that was perfect for the expanding Willing Hands. It's an enormous warehouse -- 4,160-square-feet, to be exact -- and is off Route 5. Not only that, the property is 10 acres.

Formerly a Suburban Propane outlet, this space is an ideal spot for Willing Hands. There are large-scale coolers and about 800 square-feet of storage space for food. Last year, in 2018, Willing Hands housed an estimated 1-million pounds of food, so storage like this is key.

With this new space, Willing Hands hopes to house agriculture, as well as bring in people and students for classes.
