Enjoy Some of the Upper Valley’s Best Foods at the 17th Annual Local Flavors of the Valley Event

Apr 03, 2018 04:00PM ● By Linda Ditch
This Sunday, April 8 from 11am–3pm is the 17th annual Flavors of the Valley event at Hartford High School, 37 Highland Avenue in Hartland, Vermont. This local tasting expo features some of the Upper Valley’s best foods, with samples from over 45 farm- and food-related vendors. You can enjoy fresh produce, artisan bread, award-winning cheeses, tasty jams, handcrafted sweets, and many other delicious local products. This is also a great opportunity to meet local producers, visit with neighbors, and, best of all, buy some products to take home.

What can you expect? Here’s just a sample: Alice's Kitchen will have Vermont maple butter sandwich cookies and Parisian almond cookies. If dairy is your passion, Berway Farm and Creamery will have samples of their tasty chocolate milk, and Cedar Mountain Farm and Cobb Hill Cheese will offer samples of two farmstead cheeses, along with some of their veggies. Farms for City Kids at Spring Brook Farm will also have samples of artisan cheeses, and Norwich Creamery will have samples of their basket ricotta, yogurt, and milk.
King Arthur Flour will have baguettes with cider cinnamon spread and jalapeno spread. MOCO Cocoa will offer samples of their hot chocolate. For something a little different, Peachblow Farm will have samples of their seedless straw (but don’t eat it!), and Piermont Plant Pantry will be offering some of their famous violas. Be sure to pick up something for your furry friends at home (as only service dogs are allowed); West Lebanon Feed and Supply will be sharing animal treats.

Tickets are $12 per person ($11/person and $32/family if you buy them online before the event). Children 6 and under are free, and there is a $35 per family maximum. If you bike to the event, you can enter your name for a chance to win a special prize. This is a zero-waste event, so be sure to bring a reusable plate, cup, and utensils. And don’t forget to bring a cooler for any perishable farm products you might purchase.
