Test Your Bidding Skills at this Season’s Fiddlehead Fling Benefit Auction

May 03, 2017 02:09PM ● By Linda Ditch
Test your bidding skills at this season’s Fiddlehead Fling Benefit Auction this Friday, May 5, at the Montshire Museum of Science. The festive evening of food, drinks, and fun will help fund the museum’s science education programs. This means you’ll not only have a chance to buy a cool item or two, but you’ll also make it possible for thousands of area children and families to learn and discover science at the Montshire.

The silent auction portion of the evening begins at 6pm in the Porter Community Room. It’s divided into four sections, each one closing at a different time that will be listed at the top of the catalog page. To bid, write the bidder number you receive when you arrive next to a dollar amount on the bid sheet. The winning bidder will be determined at the close of each item’s section. Some of the items available for bidding include golf and fishing outings, fitness lessons, fashion items, spa visits, home and garden items, vacations, dining out, artwork, and a variety of unique experiences for you and your family.

The live auction will start at the conclusion of the silent auction in the main gallery. As with most auctions, you bid by raising your bidder card at the appropriate time. Some of the standout items for bid include a Red Sox–Yankees game viewed from a box seat overlooking home plate, a Disney World Vacation, and a Simon Pearce dinner in your home. A catalog of both the live and silent auction items can be found on the event’s website (www.montshire.org/support/benefit-auction).

While you browse those items, you can enjoy hors d’oeuvres provided by Christophe Chef Services, including bites of vegetable sushi rolls, crostini, bruschetta, oysters on the half shell, shrimp cocktail, sliders, and more. King Arthur Flour will donate desserts including blueberry violet éclairs and strawberry mascarpone macrons. You will also get two complimentary drinks, and Maple Street Catering will staff a cash bar. Be sure to get your complimentary taste of sparkling wine, which will be served from 6 to 6:30pm.

Admission to the benefit auction is $90 per person, and preregistration is required. Groups of 8 or more people can save $10 per person when registering together. To secure your spot, click the Register for Event tab on the auction’s website (www.montshire.org/support/benefit-auction).
