The show features large-scale works by three Long River Gallery & Gifts artists: Betsy Derrick of Hanover, Jean Gerber of Thetford, and Meg McLean of Lyme. It’s rare to see such large-scale works, so this will be a treat for all. With Barbara Newton of Lyme helping to hang and curate the show, this promises to be a visually appealing experience.

The River Show celebrates the power, majesty, beauty, and grace of rivers—the Connecticut and others—as our most cherished natural resources. Many other Long River artists have also contributed to this show by replacing their current works with pieces depicting river scenes from the abstract to the representational.

This show will be up through September 15. On September 12, Long River Gallery will hold an all day River Show Open House from 10am to 6pm.

The community is invited to the gallery during August and again in September to celebrate rivers in all their might, glory, and grace.

Long River’s name is derived from the Abenaki word “Connecticut,” which means “beside the shores of the long tidal river.”

Follow the river to Lyme and you’ll find Long River Gallery & Gifts at 1 Main Street in Lyme on the Common, just behind Mascoma Savings Bank. Look for the bright yellow front door and sign, and the “Open” flag by the road, plus several “Amazing Root” sculptures on the outdoor patio.
