Spring vacation is right around the corner for most schools in the Upper Valley, and if you are a parent, you may be starting to think about ways to entertain your curious, high-energy kids for the duration of a week. If you’re looking for a fun, educational week for your children, check out the Montshire Museum of Science. The museum will be hosting a week-long camp for students called Spectacular Science April Break Camp. Read on to find out more about what the camp entails and for details on how to register your child.

This camp, designed to host children while their parents are at work during the spring break week, is held right at the Montshire Museum in Norwich. Children in grades 1–3 may participate, and each day is limited to a group of 12 participants so the interaction between campers and instructors is individualized. The camp runs from Monday, April 16, through Friday, April 20. Its flexible sign-up policy makes this camp especially convenient. You can sign your child up for any number of days from one to five, and there is a discount for signing children up for more than one day. Members pay $70 per child per day, while non-members pay $77 per child per day. If you register your child for more than one day, you receive a $10 discount.

The program for each day of camp varies, so you and your child might enjoy selecting the day or days that he or she is most interested in, or those that best align with your own work schedule or your family’s plans for the week. Camp runs from 9 am to 3 pm daily.

Monday, April 16, offers Kitchen Chemistry, featuring all the basic elements of cooking and the science behind them. Tuesday, April 17, is Eggs Away, an egg-citing day filled with egg-related eggsperiments and eggsplorations. Wednesday, April 18, is for Plants; kids engage with the science behind their natural environment and the flora that grow within it. Thursday, April 19, is the Science of Toys, a day featuring activities related to building, engineering, and how stuff works. And on the last day, Friday, April 20, the camp will focus on Magnets and Electricity, giving kids lots of opportunities to experiment and explore these two fascinating areas of science. Choose any day or combination of days, or sign your child up for all five to cover the full range of topics and keep them entertained and active all week!

Sign-up is limited, and registration is required in advance, so act now to secure your child’s spot! Visit the Montshire’s website to sign up, and guarantee an anything-but-boring spring vacation week for your child at Montshire Museum’s Spectacular Science April Break Camp.
