Entertainment Guide: The 10 Best Events Happening in the Upper Valley This Summer

With so many great shows, activities, fireworks, festivals, carnivals & so much more going on in and around the Upper Valley this summer where do you start? That's why we put together this guide of all the great events taking place. Enjoy! 

The Lebanon Opera House

The Lebanon Opera House has so many performances happening this summer. From solo guitar to theater performances they have it all here. Some shows coming up in are: The Secret Garden, Evita, Daughter of the Regiment, Lake Street Dive, Jigsaw Jones and the case of the Class Clown & So much more. To reserve your tickets click here.

 

Vermont Symphony Orchestra

The Vermont Symphony Orchestra (VSO) has been a key player in this state’s arts community for nearly 80 years, bringing music not only to performance halls, but school gymnasiums, armories and even hillsides – anywhere Vermonters would gather to enjoy and share all forms of music.Lots of upcoming attractions starting on July 1st. Hanover's 22nd Annual Old Fashion 4th of July Celebration

Hanover is hosting the fun, parade, food and the magic of 4th of July! The Day begins at 10 am in downtown on main street for the parade followed by opening ceremony at 10:30 am. Some fun activities are face painting, pony rides, pie eating contest and so much more.

 

The Prouty Race 

The 34th Annual Prouty community comes together every year to fight cancer because they know why it matters. The Cornish Fair

The Cornish Fiar: A parade, rides, carnival food, arcade games and more! Fun place to bring the whole family. Staring August 19th but runs through the entire weekend. Local singers and bands will also be performing. For more information on this event click here.

 

The Tunbridge World Fair 

The Tunbridge World's Fair is now a perpetual time-honored Top Ten event by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. Don't miss it! For a list of all the attractions and entertainment click here.

 

Old Vermont 4th of July Celebration at Billings Farm

Taking place at Billings Farm & Museum a patriotic family celebration featuring the reading of the Declaration of Independence, a historic debate, wagon rides, making 1890 flags, spelling bees, sack races, playing historic base ball, and lots more.

 

Old Fashion Band Concert & Ice Cream Social

On Friday, July 8, at 7 pm. come listen to old-time favorites played by the South Royalton Town Band while you enjoy ice cream from the White Cottage Snack Bar. Please bring a blanket or chair on which to sit. Event will be postponed in the event of rain. Held on the back lawn of the Woodstock Historical Society.

 

Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl

The Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl Football Game is played between two all-star teams of graduated high school seniors from Vermont & New Hampshire. The game is preceded by a spectacular parade of Shrine Units from throughout the Northeast Region.  It is one of 30 Shrine Football Games played every year across the country. League of N.H. Craftsman Fair

The premier event of the year is the League of N.H. Craftsman's Fair it always starts the first Saturday in August and runs for nine days. Held at the Mount Sunapee Resort in Newbury, the beautiful Dartmouth/Sunapee region of New Hampshire, the Fair is a wonderful opportunity to meet more than 350 craftspeople, learn more about craft through demonstrations and workshops, and treat yourself to a work of fine craft or get an early start on your holiday shopping.
